Cub Scout and Junior Guide Programme
The Cub Scout and Junior Guide day visitor programme is intended as an introduction to JOTA and JOTI. Cub Scouts and Junior Guides get to try out some of the activities at a very low cost of $5 for each youth member, which includes an official JOTA badge.
Programme
A special programme has been put together for the Cubs Scouts and Junior Guides. There are three components to this programme:
- Make a pin-on badge, involves cutting and colouring, wear it home!
- Have a go on the radios, listen and talk to other Scouts and Guides.
- Have a go on the computers, read and type messages to other Scouts and Guides.
Prior to coming to JOTA, think about questions to ask on the radio and computers, and find your own answers to those questions. There are some example questions you could use, but it is more fun to think up your own!
Day visitors are allocated to the activities on an ad hoc basis. We try to fit in between the Scouts and Guides who are rostered onto their activities at specific times.
Day visitors are welcome to stay as long as they like, but the programme typically takes from 1 to 3 hours. It is not really designed for Scouts or Guides who do not wish to stay for the whole weekend as the level of activities is aimed at the younger members.
