Electronics Tools
There are a wide range of specialist tools used for measuring, testing and building electronic kits.
Soldering Iron
A soldering iron is a tool that heats up and is used to melt solder. The
solder is used to join electronic components, wires and tracks on a
circuit board.
Multimeter
A multimeter is a tool for measuring electrical properties such as voltage, current and resistance.
Typical Specifications:
- DC Voltage: 200mV, 2000mV, 20V, 200V, 1000V
- DC Amps: 200uA, 2000uA, 20mA, 200mA, 10A
- AC Volts: 200V, 750V, max input 750V rms input
- Impedance 1Mohm
- Resistance: 200, 2k, 20k, 200kohms, 2Mohms
Other Items
A typical electronic tool kit will also include items such as:
- wire cutters to trim component leads and wires
- small pair of pliers
- a range of screwdrivers, straight and Phillips heads
- a range of small spanners
- metal-working tools such as punch, drills, files, etc
- damp rag or sponge to clean the soldering iron
- maybe a magnifying glass for inspecting solder joints.
